      Bruxelles – Non sono bastati tre pacchetti di sanzioni contro il regime del presidente bielorusso, Alexander Lukashenko, per mettere fine alla repressione nel Paese. Nel corso del Consiglio Affari Esteri di oggi (lunedì 10 maggio), i ministri UE hanno deciso di iniziare a lavorare su un quarto ciclo di sanzioni, che dovrebbe essere in arrivo “nelle prossime settimane”.
      È quanto anticipato in conferenza stampa dall’alto rappresentante per gli Affari esteri e la politica di sicurezza, Josep Borrell: “Non si ferma in Bielorussia la repressione e l’opera di intimidazione da parte del regime contro i suoi cittadini“, che dal 9 agosto dello scorso anno, il giorno delle contestate elezioni presidenziali, stanno dando vita a proteste pacifiche. “Nel nuovo pacchetto prenderemo in considerazione tutto quello che sta succedendo nel Paese”, ha aggiunto l’alto rappresentante UE, incluso il fatto che “ora è stata presa di mira anche la comunità polacca“.

      Lo ha annunciato l’alto rappresentante Borrell al termine del vertice con i ministri dei Paesi membri: “Non si ferma la repressione nel Paese, ora è stata presa di mira anche la comunità polacca”
